How To Get Started With Video For Your Business

Here are four things you’ll need to begin utilizing video to engage your audience and grow sales.

The Script

The first essential you need is a script. Think of a question potential customers often ask you, like the services that you provide or the specs of your product. Or, speak to the problem your customers face and how you can help solve them.

This should be a question you can answer in a minute or less. Then write down your thoughts, get rid of any fluffy words in your answer, and make sure to only focus on answering the question posed.

Once you have organized your thoughts, read your script out loud to make sure it sounds natural, like if you are talking to a friend.

The Camera

The-Camera

In this day and age, we all have access to a camera. So, simply use the camera you already have! It can be your smartphone, a DSLR, a webcam, your laptop — they are all fair game!

If you have a mount or a tripod, use one. If not, you can use books to hold your camera.

The Lighting

The-Lighting

To up your video game, you don’t need fancy lighting equipment. Just head over to your nearest window and use natural light.

Set up your phone, laptop, or another camera on a desk about an arm's length away,  just above your eye line. Finally, make sure that you are facing the light.

The Action

Once you’re set up and you’ve rehearsed your script, look right into the camera and start recording your video!

And voilà! Now you have an awesome video about you or your company to share with the world! And it’s OK if this is not the best video you ever made. The important thing is to be courageous enough to take the first step.

At the end of the day, cameras are just tools that allow you to visually convey your message. It’s the message that matters! So focus more on the content, and the production will naturally and gradually improve over time. Pinky promise!
