6 Telltale Signs It's Time To Partner With A Marketing Agency

Has your business reached the point where you need to hire a marketing agency? Many businesses start out with a skeleton staff, sometimes only the owner or marketing manager juggling it all.

In time, additional people join the team, but there never seems to be enough people to keep up with business demands.

So what do you do about your marketing amidst all this growth?

Hiring a marketing agency may be the right solution. Here are some telltale signs that your business is ready to partner with a marketing agency.

When Should You Hire A Marketing Agency?

1. Sales Are Stagnant

You have a great product. Your customer service and sales are the best you can make them. Your pricing is right on target, yet your sales are stagnant. What may be lacking is your marketing.

Many marketing agencies will do a free assessment of your current strategies. They can make recommendations on where you need to go. It also gives you an opportunity to assess their skills in turn in case you want to outsource your marketing to them.

2. Marketing Is Being Neglected

Small businesses usually run on a tight budget and with minimal staff. Marketing often falls to the bottom of the pile when other things need time and attention. In all actuality, marketing should be at the top of your list.

If you and your staff do not have the time to spend on marketing, it’s time to invite someone else to the party.

3. Marketing Is Not Your Forte

Marketing is not for everyone. Many business owners dread writing a sales email or putting together a landing page. Your marketing team may lack the time to produce blogs on a regular basis or post daily social media messages. They make half-hearted attempts that get few results.

A marketing agency can take that burden off your shoulders.

4. Your Results are Mixed

If you don't have specialized knowledge of how modern marketing works, you are missing out. For example, digital marketing is essential for helping your business get found online. If people can’t find you online, where are they supposed to find you these days?

However, you likely have no clue how to build a website, how to blog or how to set-up an inbound marketing campaign. Heck, you may not even know what an inbound marketing campaign is! You just put things out and hope that someone is listening. When you have no time, that’s all you can do, right?

That is actually a waste of time and money. The money could be better spent outsourcing a marketing agency and the time could be better spent on building the business.

5. Your Team Lacks Expertise

Did you know that modern marketing requires a multitude of skill sets? A marketing group within a major corporation will have different specialists, including graphic designers, analysts, product specialists, brand managers, event organizers, e-commerce experts, social media managers and content writers, among many others.

Unless you are a major corporation, you probably cannot hire this kind of talent.

A marketing agency comes with all that talent built in. Think about this way: You can hire one marketing employee with a limited skill set, or partner with a whole team of marketing experts with a gamut of specialties, all for the price you would pay for said marketing employee.

6. You Want To Grow Faster

It takes time to bring staff on board and get them trained in what you are trying to achieve. If you are trying to grow your business, this can be a delay that you cannot afford to have.

A marketing agency already has the talent available. While it will take time to bring them up to speed on your project objectives, that time will be shorter than hiring and training an entire marketing staff.

Any of these signs indicate that you need to expand your marketing. Doing it in-house is expensive and will drive up your fixed costs. Taking it outside with a marketing agency will give you more results with less cost.
